Tarine Mendis talks about her first portfolio, LAYERS OF BEAUTY
We were given a comprehensive understanding of the assignment. Although challenging, the design process of my first portfolio was an exciting and a new experience for all of us. As it allowed us to leverage the power of design development. The topic given was “Nature” with a monochromatic color scheme of Black and White. Initially I expected this to serve as a challenge since Nature covers the full spectrum of colors. But after exploring my ideas, I was able to do an in-depth research to approach the broad topic in a manner which reflected the color scheme. This portfolio focus on a technical aspect of design and gave us a wider understanding of the design elements and incorporating them into a final product overall, the process had its ups and downs but it was as enjoyable and useful to hone my skills in critical thinking, technical design and understanding that even simple details go a long way.
